Get data in a particular field from a table in MS Access to use in a function

Hi

From a table, I would like to get data from 2 fields, Name and Joining date. For each person I need to calculate how many stages he has passed through. I will write a function which calculates the number of days from joining date and tells me wat all stages he has passed through. It has to be done for all the persons in the table.

The problem is I donot know how to get the Name and the corresponding joining date of the persons from the table.

Pls help.

Thanks

Hi Ramya,
The problem is I donot know how to get the Name and the corresponding joining date of the persons from the table.
1. Did you meant how to use these fields in your function?
2. Can you give us a code of your function so we can have a look and help you?

Maybe it would be easier to calculate it in a query...

We really need more info here.
Try to give us some more details on what would be the principle of calculating it.

As hjozinovic has indicated, your post is no where near complete! Are you trying to calculate this data for certain persons in your database, and if so, how are you deciding which ones? Or are you trying to do these calculations for all persons in your database?

After we know this we can start to help you. Also helpful to know would be

Name of your table
Name of fields holding person's name and join date

Post answers to these things back and we can start to help you.
