Any way to allow a linked Excel spreadsheet to be accessed by multiusers in Access

P: n/a
It appears that when Access opens the link to an Excel spreadsheet, it
uses an exclusive lock. Understandable if you want updatability.
However, I have a client with need for Excel data in a read only access.
However, once the first instance of the database is opened, any
subsequent user cannot open the Excel link.

Any workaround?

Obviously doing a one time load of the Excel data into the database is
likely the way to go. But they have a database built by a non technical
person that they are trying to get to work. Automating the load of the
data to Access is beyond their skill level and the pay to me is zip.
