Just fill in the actual names of your controls:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Sub TextBox_AfterUpdate()
  2.  If Left(Me.TextBox, 1) = "a" Then
  3.   Me.CheckBox = -1
  4.  Else
  5.   Me.CheckBox = 0
  6.  End If
  7. End Sub
