Form doesn't work properly when executed from a custom menu bar

Hi,
I have a form that I want to use to enter data only. The first field
on the form is a date field.

I created a macro to open the form in data mode add.

When I click on the macro name to execute, the cursor goes to the date
field and I can immediately enter the date.

However, when I select the ADD option on my custom menu, the same
macro executes and the form displays, but I cannot enter the date. I
must first click anywhere on the form before I can enter the date.

Can someone tell me how I can click on the Add option on my custom
menu to display my add form and immediately enter the date without
clicking somewhere else first.
