Hello!
I have the following code that opens a "browse for file" box and imports through TransferText the path and filename (called MyPath in the code) that I select.
I'm trying to put that variable MyPath (for example, "C:\import\whatever.csv") into a table (tbl_ImportFileName). But I keep getting the error, "Compile error: Sub or Function not defined" and VALUES is highlighted in the VB window.
Can someone help me with this?
Private Sub Command15_Click()
Dim MyPath As String
Dim strFilter As String
strFilter = ahtAddFilterItem(strFilter, "Text Files (*.csv)", "*.csv")
MyPath = ahtCommonFileOpenSave(InitialDir:="C:\srmleads\imp ort", _
Filter:=strFilter, FilterIndex:=3, Flags:=lngFlags, _
DialogTitle:="Choose File")
If YourPath = "" Then
MsgBox ("Nothing selected!")
Else
DoCmd.Close
DoCmd.TransferText acImportDelim, "", "tbl_temp_import", MyPath, True, ""
strSQL = "INSERT INTO tbl_ImportFileName ( [filename] ) " & _
VALUES(" & me.MyPath & ")
End If
End Sub
3 1662
VALUES is outside your string so the intepreter is interpreting
VALUES(" & me.MyPath & ")
as a subroutine or function call with a string parameter. Since you don't have a subroutine or function called VALUES(Param) it is reporting that it cannot find the sub or function called VALUES.
Makes sense!
try this -
strSQL = "INSERT INTO tbl_ImportFileName ( [filename] ) " & "VALUES('" & me.MyPath & "')"

Hi, thank you for the help!
I've found that me.MyPath is not the correct usage because it's not a form. But it's still not working...
This is the code below for what is in the Module. Below that is what is now in the onclick event of the button... It is correctly doing the transfertext to tbl_temp_import but then on the next line - strquery = "INSERT INTO tbl_ImportFileName (filename) Values ('" & MyPath & "');"
It doesn't transfer the MyPath to the filename field of tbl_ImportFileName... - ***************** Code Start **************
