Parentheses in function call

I have two functions in the same module:

ExportPivots(dtRpt As Date)
ExportChanges(dtNew As Date, dtOld As Date)

I have 2 cmd buttons on a form. Why is it that the first cmdButton function
call requires that I remove parentheses and the 2nd does not? They are both
in the same form module.
Private Sub cmdChangeRpt_Click()

ExportChanges Me.txtNewDate, Me.txtOldDate

End Sub
Private Sub cmdOwnRpt_Click()

ExportPivots (Me.txtOwnDate)

End Sub
