Access to Database Windows: Disable F11 key and “Window”->”Unhind” on Menu Bar

Hi everyone

It is maybe a questions asked many times. I am trying to limite users' access to Database Windows to improve security. I am working on an Access Data Project in Access 2000 format as front end and SQL Server as backend.

The ideas in my mind so far are:
• Disable the F11 key
• Disable “Unhind” function on “Window” on Menu bar, so users can’t go to Window-> Unhind to reopen the database window.
• Disable the SHIFT key – I’ve gotten the answer from the research.

I already have a function to return user’s log on ID. I would like perticular users only who have administrator right to be able to access Database Window in case they need to update the database.

I wonder if I am on the right track, or if there is a function could solve all three issues. Any suggestions for disable F11, and disable "Unhind" function?

Many thanks.

Hi

I think I have find a way to disable the F11 key: on Menu bar go to "Tools", then go to "Startup" and then uncheck "Use Access Special keys" will disable the F11 key and prevent users from pressing F11 to access database window.

However, my the other problem is users still can open Database Window and change database design through "Unhind" function under "Window" on Menu bar. How could I disable the “unhind” function? So people can not reopen the database window through to change the database by mistake.

Cheers

hi all

I thinks I solve the problem. same idea, on "startup" under "Tools", uncheck "Allow full Menus", which will make "Hide" and "Unhide" function invisible.

Sorry for the wrong spelling, it should be "Unhide" not "Unhind"

Cheers
