i can't get my updatequeries to work.

where do I go wrong?

I made an updatequery:
a table in it and a query linked to it.
The query has calculated some sums for me
and now I want that sum into a field of the table
so I thought I could use an update query for that.
But if I start it it sais "operation must use an updateable query"
Well, I know that I can't update that query, but I thought that the
updateablity of the table would do...
Still, I want that sum in that field.
But how?

any help appreciated!

Hello,

In your sum field -- is that a sum of the fields per row? or is it the
sum of rows from per field?

Thanks for your input
and indeed, I had already done it. It really wasn't that complicated
But you are right, if I've time I will take a look at the makeTable
approach, which is new to me.

Still I wonder
where did I go wrong with me thinking that an updatequery could work the way
I made it.
Using an (updateable...) table, joined with a query with some sums.
and only wanting to touch the table.

Your question is potentially interesting and the explanation could be
a valuable addition to the group, but you have not given enough
information for anyone to do more than guess. Can you post the SQL
defining the query?
