Good morning folks, as with most people on here with their first time question, I have been working on this issue for nearly two weeks, doing some searching on this forum and the internet to assist me.
Here are the facts:
I have one table PERSONS that is created from an external program that contains personal data on individuals including cfirstname, clastname, caddress1, czipcode, ccity, cstate, cphonenumber, cbirthdate, and so on.
I have a second table COMMUNICATIONS DAY that is blank and will contain data about an event that the individuals have signed up to participate in.
What I and my secretary would like to do is to select a member's last name from a combo box (that also shows their first name, to confirm it is the individual we want) and then update all the blank fields on the form with the data from the PERSONS table.
Then my secretary and I will only have to select the data for the specific event to complete the data input.
I originally tried to create a combo box that had a query to the PERSON table with all the appropriate information to fill in the form that has been created. however, the query will not autopopulate the fields even though I created an AFTERUPDATE code.
So, I am asking for suggestions on how to do this. Consider that I am just starting with the PERSON table, the COMMUNICATIONS table, and the COMMUNICATIONS DAY form so that i dont try to fix a problem, rather i can start fresh. Thanks folks! Hopefully i have provided enough information for you to assist me.
