Access 2007: Status Bar Text randomly cut short

Hey all, have a weird issue here. It may be a bug, but thought I'd ask in here in case anyone has come across it (or wants to try to duplicate it).

I have a very complicated form in which I'm inserting tooltip text, and status bar text information on all the objects in Design View, to help guide the end users. The layout is one tab control with a few pages populated with a bunch of combo boxes, list boxes, text boxes, and a few subforms which are turned visible/invisible with command buttons. The form and all it's subforms are tied straight to tables, no queries involved.

Now.. the tooltip text works as intended. But, I'm having issues with the status bar text not showing it's full length sometimes. Some of the objects will display the full line of text (up to ~250 characters on some), while some objects will cut short at less than 20 characters. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it. I've gone into the tables and removed the Description texts, refreshed the table links, confirmed the field sizes are all at 255 characters... also, this behavior is displayed on unbound controls as well, so I'm pretty sure it's not a table issue, but a form issue.

I've also tried right-clicking the Status bar, and playing with the options there without any success.

Any ideas, anybody?

Ok... now this problem gets even stranger.

I right-clicked the Status bar, and found if I -only- have 'Num Lock' and 'View Shortcuts' selected, it will display the full status text on all fields. ??????
So now it works as intended, for some reason. But this isnt really acceptable, since those selections are not saved along with the database, it's purely on the client's side.

Also, when you run this in Runtime, you do not have the 'View Shortcuts' option (this option shows the little icons that allow you to switch between Form, Design, Datasheet view, etc). So any Runtime users who want the full text wouldnt even be able to change their Status options to get it.

I'm gonna chalk this up as a bug and move on I suppose.

Yes I have noticed this and still looking for an answer, sometimes the whole status bar shows on one field and when I click on another field that shrinks it, the previous one is shrunk as well.

I wish we could be more help on this one. the best thing I can think of to suggest is to check out Converting to Access 2007 by Allen Browne (Access MVP). There's lots to learn there even if you don't find anything specifically about this one. A site to bookmark I'd say ;)
