Updated query

1
I am wanting to make an updated query for a project I am working on. I have created current inventory and I have a new set of inventory from a supplier. I want to find an expression to add the new purchases from the suppliers to the current inventory. I ran an update query and put a criteria for the date (>#2/24/08#), however I'm not sure what expression to use to update the query. I've tried things like "[Inventory]![Inventory_Quantity]"+[Supplier Orders_Inventory]![Supplier Quantity], but that didn't seem to change the data all that much. Any suggestions?
