Creating Reports from a Template

Hello all,

I have a report that is currently being used to generate monthly statistics. We wanted to enhance this report by including a form with specific selection criteria before the report is generated. So I tried using the CreateReport method with the existing report as the template. I then created a new parameterized query that I added as the RecordSource for this templated report created by the CreateReport method.

When I execute this code, I am not prompted for the new values for my query. Instead, I am shown a blank new report template.

Am I approaching this in the appropriate manner? At runtime, is it possible to have a form that allows a user to select what items should be within a report before it is generated?

Thanks, but this solution still does not answer my question. I am trying to use an existing report, but with a new form that will allow users to enter in specific parameters so this report can be more dynamic. So I was trying to use this report as a template within VB code, but it doesnt seem to be working.

i.e. Report A already exists... The user is displayed a form where they select a bunch of options. They click a button called generate. The VB code creates or copies Report A, changes the RecordSource to a new specific query and displays the new report.

Is this possible? Or do I need to dynamically create this report as described by the solution above?
