P: 9
I want to print a report based on query

I want to print serial number against each selected record in report.

In FOXPRO I can do this by using function RECNO() what is equivalent to this function in ACCESS.

I am unfamiliar with FoxPro, however, I must ask where this searial number is derive from. Is it in the same table as the rest of data? If RECNO() is similiar to an autonumber this can be done simply by adding an ID field to your table with a data type of autonumber.

recno() is a function in FOXPRO that returns the record number in table or query result. We can use it to generate a serial number by giving it as source control of textbox.
I want similar thing in ACCESS. I want to generate serial number against each record while printing report. But this serial number is not tied with any field of table.

Try this:
Add a textbox to your report from design view.
Under its properties > Control Source: = 1
Running Sum: Over Group

Hope this Helps,

Hi, I have almost the same problem. I need to Make a serial number, where it consists of the week, year, Workordernumber + a serial

the serial number is from 0001 to the quantity we are producing on this particular workorder. (its a number i know for each workorder)

so with your answer, I have all the fields I need to create the serial, but How can I make it stop when it reaches a certain number.
eg:

45-2008-123-1-0001
45-2008-123-1-0002
45-2008-123-1-0003
45-2008-123-1-0004

I want the serial to stop at 0004
or which ever number we specifiy. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks for your help in advance
