Read Variant Multiple Rows per Record

P: 22
I need to find a way to import a file that has multiple rows per record. The number of rows may vary, but the lines have the same sequence. Here is an example of how the file looks:

ENT*1*2J*34*078507725~
NM1*QE*1*RIVERA~
RMR*11*DB00011111111111111111111111**0~

ENT*2*2J*34*580825226~
NM1*QE*1*FIGUEROA~
RMR*11*DB020246431447546457774456433**0~

ENT*3*2J*34*5197882455~
NM1*QE*1*SMITH~
RMR*11*DB0133463724352468843222422**0~
DTM*582****RD8*20060801-20060831~
RMR*IK*47A0612**0*0~
ADX*.00*IA~

The record may have either 3 rows or 6 rows.

It seems to me that the automatic importing of this data within Access is not built to cope with this. You'd have to code up a method after importing all the lines into a table.

Alternatively, use a text editor to preprocess the data into single lines per record.

Certainly, I'm aware of no facility within Access that'll do this for you.
