Odd behaviour in Combo box - Access 2003

446 Expert 256MB
Hi all
One of my users is complaining that when she types in a combo box, instead of matching characters and over-typing, she seems to be inserting e.g.

On entering the combo she types her first character "a" and the box then displays the first matching item in normal way ="Aluminium Bronze". The RowSource is based on a query.

However, she wants to enter "Aluminium Profiles", so as she is a very fast 'typer' she rapidly types "Aluminium b" + tab, which previously worked. However, she now finds she has entered "Aluminium bluminium Bronze" which suprisingly is Not in List so gives an error.

I thought that maybe her INSERT key was the problem but this only seems to function when typing new text in an empty combo box.

The system has been in use for years as '97 and has just been upgraded to 2003. However, I cant replicated the behaviour on any of my computers.
Most other combo boxes work normally for her (there is one other with odd behaviour)

The workround is to use F4 and the arrow down key

But has anyone any idea of what might be happening ??
Cheers

OK !
I've managed to track down what was happening here!

It was all to do with the Autocorrect function. In my above example, typing lowercase "a" for "Aluminium" seemed to trigger Autocorrect because of the rule "Capitalise first letter of a sentence" , which then seems to have taken control from the combo box.

Unchecking the Autocorrect option restored the combo box back to 'normal' behaviour.

These Autocorrect options were available in 2002 but did not seem to impact combo boxes.

A further issue which confused my users was the occasional appearance of a small 'lightning bolt' icon. These can be suppressed by unchercking "Show Autocorrect Options buttons" in Tools > Autocorrect.
