problems in accessing shared database

i have an acccess database which is being shared over a network , but when i try to access the database from a client computer its returning a error like this :
"network or disk error".can anyone help me out.im using access 2003

Now these are guesses but it could be that you either have a corrupted database file try repair and compact or maybe even a hardware issue like bad NIC cards giving flaky network connection dropping. How are you sharing the database is it a 'split' database that is to say one having a front and backend datafile? Is it a small database or fairly huge?. Many issues could cause on a network so this is somewhat imprecise unfortunately.

Does this client computer have network access to the Access database? Can you rename the file via Windows explorer?
