Linking a subform to a form to display records

Hello!

Simple question: I've created a form based on a query in datasheet view. It fires from a button on the main form.

Is there anyway that I can:
a) Open this query in datasheet view from the main form
b) Click any record row in the datasheet view to show the corresponding record in the main form?

Thanks

So let me see if I understand what you've sayed, You want to have the form display a datasheet view of the form that you're basing on a query and be able to manipulate the record pointer to move to that record you selected in the datasheet view?

If so you're going to need to redesign your layout a little in order to be able to do this.

The main suggestion that i have is to make the form that is displaying the datasheet view of the query based form, to be displayed as a ListControl on the main form. Then you would define each of the fields that you wanting to populate on the main form so when you double_click on the selected record, then you have the record pointer move to that record in the database based the Primary key that is defined in the table.

If you need more specific answer to that, please post a table structure and then I can give you a more specific answer as to the HOW in all this.

Hope that helps,

Hi Joe,

Yes, that is exactly what I`m trying to do. I`ll get a table structure together and post it when I can.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Joe,

This is my table structure.

The main form is called frmProjectSchedular and is fed by a query called qryAll (as there are calculated fields). The query is based on a table called tblProjectScheduler with an ID autonumber field.

A button opens a sub form called frmTableView which has a datasheet based on a query called qryUncompletedJobs. It's this datasheet I'd like to link through to my main form.

The query has 5 fields including a linked ID one.

Is this enough information to help or do you need any more detail?

Thanks
Neil
