Automatically send email after update of a field

Hi There

I am working on an Access database and looking to write some code to do the following.

I have a combo box and when it is updated i need it to send an email automatically to a pacific email address, I know there are ways to do this but i dont want the user to have to click anything after this.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

Steve

Hey Steve,

You should be able to write your email procedure in the combo box's AfterUpdate event.

Hope that helps,

Olly

What email system are you using? Complete auto generated emails from Outlook were stopped by Microsoft some time ago. I remember there were some work-arounds but I didn't bother. That's why I keep a copy of Outlook 2000 on my mass mailer. However with XMLHTTP requests you can now get around that issue by sending your request directly to the Exchange server.

Steve,

I've had the same problem myself with Outlook. I currently use Lotus Notes and I have code that works fine with that. As above, what are you using?

Cheers,

Olly
