Not sure that this has anything to do with Access.... however the simplest way to do this is to right click the file and select "Open With..." this will give you the option to select a program other than the default. Once you've done this that program should show up in the list next time depending on your version of windows and settings.

Hope this helps.

Minion,

The problem i am having is that i am trying to do this through Access VBA code. Something like the ShellEx command would do but i am unsure how i can specify a program... Any ideas?

Hi, there.

Actually that may require quite a tricky coding because "Microsoft picture and fax viewer" is not an executable file you may run with VBA Shell() command, but a DLL (...\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll). You can reference it - the library has name "Preview 1.0 type library" but I can't so far give you any ideas or references of how to work with it.

On the other hand you may easily open picture in Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Shell "ois.exe X:\path\filename.tiff"
  2.

Hi,

Thanks for that but iv just found a way of doing it before i checked the board again.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Shell "rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen " & FILE NAME
  2.
Thanks anyway!
