Can you open Find with Custom settings?

I have aform on which I created a command button that opens the find box from the edit menu. When the box opens the "Match" defaults to Whole Field. Is there a way to get it to open and have "Match" default to Any Part of Field?

Thanks

The only reliable way I've ever found is to change the default for Access itself. Goto Tools - Options - Edit/Find and under Find/Replace Behavior select General Search.

Now (and this is important) exit not only your database, but Access itself. The next time and each time thereafter that you crank Access up, the default find behavior will be Any Part of Field.

This has to be done for each PC you'll run your db on, unless the option has been set to General Search previously.

You can set this in the VBA code of a form, by using

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Application.SetOption "Default Find/Replace Behavior",1
but the kicker is, like setting it in Options, it doesn't take effect until Access is closed then opened again.
