To update the details from vba to 2-3 tables in access

Hi,

I need ur help to resolve my issue.

Iam using 3 tables,

1)Employee(eid,ename,location,designation,deptid,m grid)
2)Department(depid,deptname)
3)Salary(eno,salary)

In the above tables (employee eid and salary eno are linked) and (department depid is linked with the employee deptid)

In the VBA form iam getting the details of the follwing values,

1)employee id
2)employee name
3)designation
4)department
5)location
6)salary

when i try to update these details access from the form it is saying that "Database or object is read-only".Iam geeting this result when i used join-query.when i use a singlr query iam able to update.

Please help to resolve this issue.

Is there any other way to update these tables from the details that we are getting from the VBA form.

Use a subform to enter in those joined values.

It is always a good idea to build the query first for a form. Check if the query is updatable (It will have a New Record slot at the bottom) before building the form.
When dealing with a structure that is not updatable, the recommended approach is to use a form for the parental part, and subform(s) for the related datasets (can be tables or queries).
