Need to use full path to linked tables

Hello,

I have a small problem that I hope someone can help with.

My Access 2000 database uses several tables and is split into BE and FE.

In the FE the tables are all linked to the BE but the file paths all seem to include the drive letter for the drive they are stored on. This is not a problem in our office as users all have the same drive mapped to the same drive letter, however the database is also to be used at another site where they have a different drive on a different server mapped to the same drive letter.

Is there a way to amend the file path to include the full path, ie:

\\Servername\Directory\Folder\Database.mdb

rather than:

S:\Folder\Database.mdb?

If not, would I have to update the links at the other office using LTM? I hope this is not the case as I don't have particular faith in users' abilities to do this unaided and I don't really want to have to go there to do it myself!

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks,

Olly

Sorry to waste your time, I have figured this out for myself.

It was obvious really - I needed to navigate through the network file system when updating the links rather than doing it through local file system.

*kicks self*

Cheers.

UNC path = \\ServerName\ShareName\Folder\Database.mdb

Is the ServerName and ShareName that the users in the other office use the same as that available to you (It should be I expect)? If so then you can fix it at your office so that it uses the full UNC path instead of using the drive letter format (Using LTM). This should then work in both places.

It is. It's fixed. I feel rather silly now. I was updating the links using LTM but navigating to the db via the local file system rather than through the network.

Thanks NeoPa.

Not a problem Olly. I'm glad that helped.
Actually, though it seems obvious now it's been pointed out, it's not that obvious when you're doing it.

The joys of hindsight!
