Calling Access 2000 from VB6

I have an Access 2000 password secured database and I need to be able to start this up from a VB6 application. The VB6 application needs to supply the password to the access application and pass control to the access application. The VB application should then close.
Is something like this possible? What VB code is required and what library references are required?
I have searched the net and tried many suggestions all without success yet to my way of thinking this request should be relatively simple.
