Report Totals

P: 44
I have a report that produces summed totals in the dept and section footer part of the report. One of the columns is giving me wrong sum, it is off by 22 cents. I exported the same report into excel and when the same column was summed up, it produced the correct total!. Why is that? My text boxes in the report have this:
=SUM([LIFE])

A couple of possibilities spring to mind (of course it is Friday afternoon here and the mind is not the freshest!).

Is it wrong by 22 cents or is the .22 missing? That could just be that the control on the report is not wide enough.

If it is wrong by 22 cents, it could be a good idea to make sure that you are using the correct datatype and check to see if you have applied any rounding anywhere in the intermediate steps.

The Currency datatype is particularly good for fixed decimal point calculations.
Any rounding should take place at the very end.
