New bugs in SP3 for Access 2003

Allen Browne's site is probaly the best source for

New Bugs in SP3 for Access 2003.

One of the newer bugs has to do with the inability to open Office 2003 documents; .DOC, .XLS and .PPS, and Micro$oft never seems to get it quite right!

From KB instructions on addressing this bug:

"Step 1. Locate a computer that does not have Office 2003 SP3 installed."

and then

"Note: We recommend that you install the latest updates and service packs for Office 2003 as soon as possible."

Isn't this what caused the problem to begin with?

Hi Linq,

Yes, MS definitely misplaced the Note. If you read that second Resolution Method in its entirety, it is clear that that Note should have followed item #4 not item #1. Items #1 and #2 refer to saving the file on a PC that does not have Office 2003 SP3, so that you can save the file in a format not blocked by Office 2003 SP3. Items #3 and #4 refer to transfering and opening the non SP3 file format on a PC that has Office 2003 SP3.
