Try this on the line before "Comments.SetFocus" and see if that helps:

Forms!YourForm!YourTabControl.Pages("YourTabPage") .SetFocus

Hi, cheers for the help, but i'm still new to this. So if you could expand abit more...
my form is called Issue
the tab containing the unbound is called add notes
the other tab containing the comments box is called comments
and the tab control is called tab control...
so what should this look like. many thanks

Based on the info you provided, the syntax would be as follows:

Forms!Issue![tab control].Pages("add notes").SetFocus

Forms!Issue![tab control].Pages("comments").SetFocus

Ok, I take it to mean that the syntax I gave you set focus where it was supposed to be, but the error line is after the set focus code. If you don't know if the syntax I gave you sets focus where it is supposed to, comment out the error line and see if focus is properly set. If it is, then:

Change these lines:
Comments.SetFocus
Me.Comments = Me.Comments & " " & Me.NotesMemoField & " " &

To this:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Forms!Issue![tab control].Pages("comments").SetFocus
  2. Forms!Issue!Comments = Forms!Issue!Comments & " " &  Forms!Issues!NotesMemoField & " "

There appears to be something wrong with Comments, so double check that it is a textbox control and its name is correct. NotesMemoField appears to be ok based on the code and info you provided.

I think I may have spotted your problem: In the left hand side you use "Issue" and on the right hand side you use "Issues" ...which is correct

Try changing this:
Forms!Issue!Comments = Forms!Issue!Comments & " " & Forms!Issues!NotesMemoField

to this:
Forms!Issue!Comments = Forms!Issue!Comments & " " & Forms!Issue!NotesMemoField

or this:
Forms!Issues!Comments = Forms!Issues!Comments & " " & Forms!Issues!NotesMemoField

Just a quickie, im using
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Sub Command85_Click()
  2. DoCmd.OpenReport "Issue Details", acNormal, , _
  3. "[ID]=Issues"
  4. End Sub
to print from the form, its open a window asking for the ID number, once typed in it prints the record 'Issue details' for that particular issue. is there a way where by i can pass the window where i enter the id, so when you press print it automatically prints just that issue. ID is the only unique item. cheers
