Failing to Open Frontend

25
i want to share my database on a workgroup, and curently i have both the front end and the backend on the workgroup server. The problem is when i share the frontend to the other clients ,the front end is failing to open ,it is trying to access the backend from the same directory it is on the server but this time looking on the client computer, and thus it is returning an error that the path cannot be found.in other wordas it seems not to link to the backend on the server ,it is trying to look for the backend in its own c drive
what can be the problem, i have joined the workgroup and i have all the permissions.

You have (accidentally) posted this question in the Access Articles section. This is NOT an article.
I'm moving this to the main Access questions forum.

Have a look at (Front-End / Back-End (FE/BE)) to see how this should be done.
Any relative links (linked tables) must be set up to work from wherever the Front End is run from. This is part of the fundamental design of a working FE/BE system.

i have checked the post on front and backends ,i did so on my database only that i used the database splitting wizard, dont know if they would be any difference, sut still the problem is the same

I suspect your problem is that the references to the back-end database were put in without considering where it would be run from. It appears the article doesn't make this clear either - I'll need to update it (* Edit * Done now).

Consider the PC you do the splitting work on.
If it has a P: drive (or worse C: drive) pointing to the BE database, but the P: (or more obviously for C:) drive is not accessible via the same letter on any of the PCs you will be running the FE database on, then you cannot get away with linking to the BE database on that drive (at least not using the drive letter).
If this is your situation use a UNC to connect to the database that you're linking to and you should find it works for you.
