Blank Field

64
I have a timecard form that uses a special data entry code so that I can track who actually made the entry. How do I progamatically not allow that field to be blank or null. In other words, how do I keep the field from being skipped over. It is a form of password so I can't relaly use a combo box.

Validation for empty/null fields has to be done in the form's BeforeUpdate event. Where YourTextBox is the control we're dealing with:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
  2.   If Me.YourTextBox = "" Or IsNull(Me.YourTextBox) Then
  3.     MsgBox "You Must Fill In YourTextBox Field!"
  4.     Cancel = True
  5.     YourTextBox.SetFocus
  6. End If
  7. End Sub
