Can't create "drop-down list box"

Hi,

I can't figure out how to create a drop-down list box. The help file
says it exists. The icon in the help file matches the combobox in the
toolbox. I tried using a combox box, both with and without using the
wizard, and it will not "drop-down" - the list is horizantal. I don't
see a variable to set to change that. I tried the listbox in the
toolbox, and it is also horizantal (tried that first). The behavior I
want is to list, drop-down, 4 short values (simultaneously, no
scrolling needed), and when I select one to display the selected value
in the listbox, and set a value in a table to the selected value.

Thanks.

If you did the items in the dropdown list by typing in values, did you
separate the values with a comma or with a semi-colon?

Did you specify the number of columns as 1?

I changed the columns to 1, and now it works like a drop-down list.
(I thought columns referred to the number of items...)
Thanks.
