Sumifs & Subtotal in Access

Hello,

I'm very new to access and have been struggling with the subtotal function in access.

I have a very large table with the following info

State City ID Month First Last Shoes Hats MISC Total
WA Seattle 123 01/2007 John Doe 1 5 2
WA Seattle 123 01/2007 John Doe 1 5 2
NY NY 132 01/2007 Jane Smith 10 2 4
TX Dallas 321 01/2007 Lisa Joes 6 3 7

WA Kent 123 02/2007 Joe Doe 1 5 2
WA Seattle 123 02/2007 John Doe 1 5 2
NY NY 132 02/2007 Jane Smith 10 2 4
TX Dallas 321 02/2007 Lisa Joes 6 3 7

What I would like to do is to create an expression similar to the "Sumif" in excel where it would add all the months up for each sales person in a sheet...then within that sheet it would do a subtotal by City...then another subtotal by State. Please help ASAP. I've tried everything I know and nothing seems to work....been working on this for the last 8 hours....:-(

Not sure exactly what you are looking for. You have to stop thinking that Access works like Excel though.

Have a look at crosstab queries and see if that helps. Although you would need separate queries for state and city.
