text box field not triggering sub on change()

OK this is a total newbie question but.....I have a field in a subform that I want to use to trigger an event on change(). I'm debugging and am trying to get a message box to fire on change (just to try and isolate why the change isn't triggering the event).

I created the sub below and placed it in the general declarations area.

Public Sub Hello()
MsgBox "hello"
End Sub

In the on change() event of the text box I placed a the following call

Private Sub New_Job_Code_Change()
Hello
End Sub

I created the sub below and placed it in the general declarations area.

This would have to be placed in the code module behind the form that the subform is based on in order to work with this syntax. Placing it in the code module behind the main form wouldn't do it.
