Show the search result at the form

18
I wish to make a access db with a main form and a subform.
After entering new Primary key the subform can show the relevany record -that is ok!
But when I enter the infomation at the main form at the other text box for query, it modify the table content.
how to make query using the other text box in the main form?
and the record searched should be also shown in the main form and also the subform (not just using the primary key) to search?
the information in the table should not be changed when enter searched information at the main form, how to do that?
I hope that is not too much questions and wish can be understood.
Really thankful for any help!
Thanks!

The general approach to this should be to create a bound mainform and a linked subform.
In the linked subform the unique ID from the Main form can be hidden, as Access will maintain it for you.
Having created this you can add an "unbound" combobox on the mainform for positioning. Just use the combobox wizard and chose the option for a "search" combobox. As in't unbound, it won't change data in the underlaying table.
