Seeking Access experts to present to DAAUG

Hi, this is Danny Lesandrini. Been a while since I was a regular
contributor to this forum, but my name still shows up from time
to time. Today, I've got what might seem like an odd request:

As the vice president of the Denver Area Access User Group
it's my responsibility to schedule speakers for our main meetings,
the third Thursday of each month. The schedule for 2008 needs
some work, and as yet, I've got little in the way of commitments
for speakers. (see our site at http://www.daaug.org)

I know that this newsgroup is frequented by some of the best
Microsoft Access developers in the world, and if any of you plan
on being in Denver on the night of our meeting, I would sure like
to have you join us, and if you have an idea for an Access-centric
presentation, I'd like to talk to you about it. The final decision on
speakers must go through the board of directors, but everyone
loves to have guests at our meetings, so if you have something
cool to present, I'd love to hear about it.

Quite reasonable. However I'd also post in the Microsoft general newsgroup and on
utteraccess.com. I'd add the words Denver Access User Group to your subject instead
of the acronym DAAUG This will catch local folks attention much more than DAAUG.
That could mean just about anything.

Ok, point taken. But it's my understanding that CAPITAL LETTERS serve
only one of two purposes: shouting ... or acronyms. IMHO

Hey it got me in here to read the post. I figured if someone had
"DAAUG" in the topic of their post it had to be good! :)

Good luck with your efforts in finding speakers. Im sure y'all will

Yes, but a Denver resident might not even know of the existence of your user group.
Denver would catch their attention. DAAUG does not.

Interesting you should say that. Before I posted, I searched the newsgroup for
references to Denver and Colorado. Guess who's posts came up. Mine, and
only mine. Save one college student who's last post was in 2002. But I suppose
not all posters reveal their location ... unless it's something to be proud of, like
those of you in Australia. Yeah, makes us jealous.

Nah, I'm in Canada. And proud of it. <smile>

I would agree though that very few posters mention where they are from as it is
utterly irrelevant.

Also I once responded to a posting by David Fenton without even realizing it was him.
