Invalid use of null: Is this the right forum? Trying again

Help!! I am am at my wits end! And desperately need help!

I inherited a programme for my business that is embedded in ms access.
It is about 7 years old and is running on office 2000 and using windows 2000 pro.
Ok dont fall over laughing..but it has done what I need for the business..so far.

I am receiving 2 messages:
microsoft access
An unexpected problem has occurred
Problem: Invalid use of Null
Number:94
Proc:Compact Data
Module:basFramework
Please contact the developer

The top message is at the front of the second message and these are both in front of a third window labelled:

Usysfrm Message:Form

I believe, but cannot verify that it may have occurred when I deleted a 0 from a cell in one of the tables. I do not recall this being a problem before.

I have seen responses in this forum to help, including inserting "" into the string.
It has been a long time since I even used DOS and am not sure how to even get into DOS anymore to change the items. Anyone prepared to help a rank amateur? I will need a lot of simple, careful explanation.

Hi, there.

Try the following.
  • Open the application.
  • Press Alt-F11. If you are lucky so that the developer has not compiled the file you'll see VBA window.
  • To the left of the window you'll see tree view of project components: Modules, Class modules etc.
  • Open Modules node and find [basFramework] module.
  • DblClick on it will open the module code.
  • Find procedure named [CompactData]. Between lines
    Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
    1. ..... sub CompactData ....
    2. end sub
    3.
    or maybe
    Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
    1. ..... function CompactData ....
    2. end function
    3.
    "...." means some word(s)
  • Post the whole procedure text on the forum

If you fail to open VBA window, you'd better recall where you've deleted 0 or check in backup copy, I hope you have one.

Regards,
Fish
