Check Values Before Insertion

Hi Experts Around the World.

Well im new to this paradise (Access). i have no experties in Access but i can still work with my mind :).

i wish to request you people as under:

I made a table called mainTable, two fields of this table one is SNO and other is Relation are text data types. SNO can be any string values but relation stores value from a combo fox on form called mainForm based on mainTable. Relation values can be "Self", "Wife", "Son", "Daughter", "Mother", "Father". I made a query qryMainTable based on mainTable, this query returns SNO and Relation values if Date value = Is Null.

Now i made a form in design view called frmCheck. I took two unbound text boxes one is SNO and other is Relation with a command button. On click this command button, the values in text boxes should check values in qryMainTable. If frmCheck's SNO found in qryMainTable's SNO and Relation of frmCheck= "Self", then a message displays "Entry Exist" and the text boxes should be cleared. If frmCheck's SNO found in qryMainTable's SNO and Relation of frmCheck= other than "Self", then a frmMainForm Should open with SNO and Relation values as entered in unbound text boxes of frmCheck and these values should be entered in table mainTable.
