Add record in subdatasheet query dissapears when table added to relationship window

20
Hi All
I have a Orders query and a Order Details query both derived from their respective tables, of which the Order Details query then eventually becomes a sub-form of the Form Orders. Standard stuff as in Northwind..
Different to Northwind (and the source of my despair), I have defined a Constants Table to store data that can be updated by the user in one place. (eg. VATRate)
The Order Details query however loses the last 'add record' line as soon as I add the Constants Table to the relationship window of the query, preventing me from being able to add further records to Order Detail through the query or the derived Form???
Please advise.. what best to do, without going the VBA route if possible (Should be simple surely?)
Thanks

You have posted your question in the Access Articles section rather than the Access Forum section.
I have moved it across for you.

This is all about updatable queries.
There are many and various reasons why a query becomes non-updatable. You will notice an extra line on those queries that ARE updatable (at the bottom) which are marked by an asterisk (*) in the record selector margin.

Yes, my problem was that my query became non-updatable when I added a table to the query relationships window, and I did not know why.. but have since resolved my lack of understanding in this particular case..
Thanks!

Nicely Mike.
It's hard to pin down all the reasons so I'm very glad you managed to sort it out yourself (phew) :)
