Queary Not Responding to Criteria

klarae99
I am new to this forum and new to Access 2003...this is my first database that is more than a table and some reports. The database I am working on is for inventory control. My current project is to produce a report by retail location that tells the available stock. I have choosen to create a form that will imput data to a queary that a report is based on. My form has a 5 button option group with an invisable textbox linked to the EventLocation field of by transactions table. The first 4 buttons are coded to a specific location and the fifth button (All) gives a null response to the queary. The queary views a null response as view all. This is all set up and working fine, the problem is that in addition to our four retail locations the EventLocation field also lists one day festivals and events that our giftshop participates in. When designing the Queary I created a sum of the # [recieved] and the # [sold] and used them in a calculation field to get the # [On Hand]. The one day events and festivals Never have any On Hand. Knowing this I placed the criteria >0 on the Quearys [On Hand] Calculation field. This criteria does not have any affect on the results when I run my queary, I get the exact same list when I deleate the criteria from the field. I could really use some help on this one...I have no idea why Access does not "see" the criteria. Thanks!

I have continued to work on this issue on my own while awaiting a response. I was able to work around the problem by saving my original queary without a criteria on the calculated field and then create a new queary using the previous queary as the control source and then add the criteria of # [On Hand] being >0. This generates the results that I need and will allow the database to function but it requires that I have two quearies to complete one function and I know there has to be a better way to do this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I be approching the problem in a completely different way, through code or something? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
