Check box problems

P: 44
Please help! I have 2 check boxes named "18" and "36" that need to be seen only when a date is entered in textbox named "effective date". When the user checks one of the two boxes it must stay visible, the box that is not checked must become invisible. I have tried something but am very far from making it work. I am very new to this so please have compassion! This is what i have so far:

Private Sub Effdate Change()
If Me.Effdate.value = "date" then
Me.Check18.Visible = False
Else
Me.Check18.Visible = True
End If
End Sub

The first thing you need is

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Sub effective_date_change()
  2. if effective_date = null then
  3. me.checkbox18.visible = false
  4. me.checkbox36.visible = false
  5. else
  6. me.checkbox18.visible = true
  7. me.checkbox36.visible = true
  8. end if
  9. end sub
Then do the following for each checkbox
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Sub Checkbox_AfterUpdate()
  2. if Checkbox = false then
  3. me.othercheckbox.visible = true
  4. else
  5. me.othercheckbox.visible = false
  6. end if
  7. end sub
