Access crashes when making MDE file

P: 9
Hey,

I'm trying to take an mdb file and make an mde file from it. I've done it before without any problem, but now when I try to do it, Access will go into Not Responding mode as soon as I click the mouse a second time. The mde file never gets created, but a strange file called db1.mdb gets created in the directory the good mdb file is in. Any help is much appreciated, as this is time sensitive. Thank you

You have inadvertently posted your question in the Articles section rather than in the Forum section of our site, so I have moved it across to the Forum for you.

Did you do a compile before trying to convert to mde. If not:

Make a backup copy of your MDB
Go into the VBA editor behind any form
Goto Debug
Goto Compile
Run a compile. If there are problems Access wll gladly point them out to you
Resolve all issues raised and retry converting to MDE

Good Luck!

Thanks for the help,

I did what you suggested and I tried this with the files on my desktop instead of on the company file server. I'm not sure which did the trick, but it worked so, thanks a lot!
