A2000 and A2002 on same machine

Tom
All:

I posted on this yesterday, but for whatever reason, Google isn't
dealing nicely with it...

Anyway, I need to install A2000 on a computer that already has A2002
so I can create A2000 mde files. I have the A2000 install disk. Our
IT department controls the installation of A2002.

After installing A2000 (into a different directory than A2002)
everything works fine until I run A2002 again. Once I run A2002, it
pops up a dialog box saying something along the lines of its
registering itself - it then runs fine.

The problem is that when I try to go back to A2000, I get the splash
screen to flash, then nothing - I'm back at my desktop without any
version of Access running. To get A2000 running, I need to uninstall
and reinstall. That is getting old.

After doing a little reading it seems MS says a chronological install
is required (although others, notably Tony Toews, disagree). I'd
prefer not to have to do that since it would involve uninstalling
A2002 and waiting for IT to reinstall it when they get around to it...

Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can end up with a working
copy of both A2000 and A2002 without having to uninstall and reinstall
A2002? TIA

Tom
