Separating Minimum record

P: n/a
I have a table that contains records that provide the following info:

vehicle type
route #
start time
travel time
end time

I need to display info for all records in a query and/or report BUT
need to separate the record by route that contains the minimum end
time. Then with that record I need to do calculations on the minimum
record.

Any ideas - thx,

Well, do your routes have dates? A record key? Anything to make a
record unique?

I think you need another query that you can link to. IOW, create a
totals query. Drop Vehicle type, route numb, and end time and group on
VehicleType, Route, and Min on end time.

It appears you have nothing to link it since since theres no dates or
anything to make a record unique this is all moot and irrelevent.

thx - the dates will be the same date for the same route - what they
need to determine do some calcuations on which vehicles uses the least
amount of time to get to the same destination, same date etc. The
starting point and ending point are the same. The start time and end
time will be different - but it's the length of time that it takes
each vehicle to get to the same destination - and they want to be
able to do some other calculations on the minimum. BUT they still want
to view all vehicles for that route on that date to that same
destination. I have not set this up - it has been "given" to me and
I'm thinking I'm going to have to assign a field that makes each
record unique.

Thx for your help - :)

You should have a unique ID for each route for vehicle type. But it
appears you really don't care about type, just route number. I thought
you might be calcing for the same route across a bunch of dates (perhaps
over a year+) but linking it back to a record would be impossible.

Think Totals query as a starting point.
