How to use calender in a table or query

I am trying to make a Payroll database. In that database, there are so many tables like Employee master, Days, Designation, Basic Structure etc. But in the 'Day' table there is a field called 'Total day of the month'. I want to insert the total day from a month table and also year from Year table as when I select the year and month, the total day of the month will be picked up from the month table.
My database is a generic database, that means that if i want to see any previous month salary register, I can't.
How can I do it ????

I'm completely confused as to what you want to do, can you explain again and provide an example?
