When I (or other users on my network) open an MDB file by double-
clicking on it, all is fine. If the database is already open by
another user, though, nothing happens. No error message, nothing to
indicate what's going on. If I open Access, go to the Open dialog and
find the same MDB file, then it opens fine.
Any clues as to what the problem is would be most appreciated!
Split your database:

Thanks Keith. I appreciate that having a separate FE would make it
easier for many people to share one set of data in one location. The
trick is that I'm currently using Replication. I somehow think a
combination of replication and a split FE and BE in each place would
just lead to chaos.
I'm working for an NGO in a country with poor internet connectivity,
so we've had to use replication to allow people in different offices
to enter and access data simultaneously.
Any thoughts on whether a split database with replication makes any
sense?
