Banana Splits!!! (Not the TV Show)

First I have to say this site rocks. Everyone here is so helpful.

Not sure if I'm going about this one the right way but I'll give it a shot and try to explain it.

I have a table that has 3 separate amounts based on the numbers of "orders" by a customer. in my table that has alll my customer info, I have a field that has the number of orders they have. 1, 2 or 3

each department gets the same split based on the number of orders.

For example:

Split table
orders 1 2 3
Dept 1 x xx xxx
Dept 2 x xx xxx
Dept 3 x xx xxx

In my query , How do I link the number of orders to the spilts. OR do I need to set up the tables differently. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm sorry, I'm not following, what's a split? And what do the x's represent?

the splits are dollar amounts. they are the same for all departments. if a customer has one order, each department gets x, if two orders, each dept gets xx.....

i want the field in my customer table which states the number of orders to each customer to pull the right split from the from the spilts table so i can have a query to show it on a monthly basis.

hope that helps.

could i write a logic statement in the query that says if orders field equals a certain number the it pulls from the right column in the split table?
