Barcode program

P: 75
Hi fellows~

Need some information about barcode program. I want to create a database for pharmacy use, where I will have all the medications name, the NDC # (bar code from the package) and so on. We also have a scanner which reads all the barcodes and put the numeric values in (lets say If i open MS WORD) it will put the numeric value in MS word. Is there a way that we can match the same numeric value in the database which I will create, and it should validates. If its there, thats fine dont do anything, but if its not, the user has to put that information into the database.

i havent started anything, but i am open for all the suggestions.
Thanks for you time.

Best to store the numbers in an excelsheet with the fieldname "on top".
Access will allow you to link a table to such an excelsheet and with a so-called outer join query you can detect the missing (new) codes.
