MS Access 97 and graphics

Hi everybody,

I have a large historical database of US Railway equipment written in
Access 97. I have kept it as 97 because I have the Access Developers Kit
that allows me to distribute the database as an executable and it can then
be used on a PC without MS Access.

In the dB there is provision to click on a thumbnail included in the search
result and open a fullscreen view of that equipment. All the scans were
done as .jpgs to save space and improve speed.

The problem is that when I try to convert the dB to an executable using the
developers kit it will only accept the photos as .BMP.

It think I can convert the 1000s of images to .bmp in Paint Shop Pro in
batches but if anyone has a suggestion to overcome this problem I'd
appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi Neville

The problem you describe occurs because Access uses the Office filters to
handle other image formats (such as JPG), and these filters are not part of
the runtime.

This link might provide you with a workaround:

All the best
