I'm having the same problem, but when I followed your instructions, the value in the dropdown box changes, but it doesnt change the form to reflect the information related to the chosen record.
I'm really confused because I have another form that I used the combo box wizard and chose the option that picks the value and writes it to the appropriate field, and it works great. But when I tried to use that for this form, it wont work. (it give me an error code in the status bar that says "Control cannot be edited, it's bound to AutoNumber field 'tbl_SurveyWorkOrder.SurveyWorkOrderID')
Can you help? My knowledge of VBA is next to nothing.
Thanks!
Create a form using the table/query as the Record Source.
Goto the Field List and drag the fields you want retrieved onto the form
Place a combo box on the form
Select "Find a record on my form based on the value I've selected..."
Next
Select the appropriate identifying field to appear in the Combo box
Next
Size the Combo box column
Next
Name the combo box
Finish
Now the user can use the dropdown arrow of the combo box to retrieve the data or simply start typing the identifying data in and the combo box will start to autocomplete the entry. When the correct entry is found hit <Enter> and the appropriate data should be retrieved.
Good Luck!
