Passing values to another form from a different form

P: 4
I have a form with a subform called MMS Update. I have a button that brings up another form to add a new record. I then have a button on the add form to go back to the MMS Update form. I have tried using the builder on the button to open the MMS Update form and SetValue to the MMS Code of the new record so it will query it and display it for update but all it does is put the MMS Code in the form with data from the first record in the table. It still queries the database for the first record only replacing the key with the one I passed. How do I get it to query the database again. I tried requery, I tried setting the value before I opened the form so it would have this value but it didn't recognize the value since the form wasn't opened yet.
I'm new to VB and Access so please be as specific as possible. Thanks so much.
