Issues with Security in MS Access

8
Hi All,

I have saved the database in the common folder to allow multiple users to access forms which will update the table.

We did testing and were able to open the form and fill in details but when we tried to save the changes it gave us an error message " Changes cannot be saved as another user is also using the database. For saving changes you must have exclusive rights"

We closed the database and then again opened it and I noticed that the data we have filled in was updated in tables, Is this normal?

Can we do something to make sure that this message is not shown and users are able to save the data they have filled in or does it make any difference. Also is it possible for two users accessing the same record and making changes to it?

I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks,
TK

P.S- I am very new to Access

Is your database saved on a server? or some place that you can have it open and someone else can have it open at the same time?

I've gotten this error before and had the same problem, it was because i had the app saved on a server and someone else had the app open at the same time i did.

Mine is not saved in a server. Its in a shared folder which can be accessed by others as well. Is there a way I can stop this from happening

Thanks,

Yes you can password protect the folder that the app is in, or you can setup "security" a couple different ways in the actually access db

let me know if you need anymore help

have a good one :)
