Access Photo for Records

P: 12
I'm using the data base that came with Access 2003 - I can greate a new form and add a photo per record, but for the life of me I can't make it work with the porducts form. The form is based on the products table - I've inserted the object bmp photo in the table and it works everytime when i create a new form. But it will not work when using the original form. I've checked the propreties for the form and can't find any difference between the one new forms I create and the old Product form. Please help.

Check the record source of the original form. The new field may not be available to the original form.

The Original record source is the Products table - I do a list fields and drag the photo field to my form - But when i do it's empty. This does not happen when i create a new form and use the same table. I'm going nuts.

Thanks so much for the reply

Just had a thought. Assuming you are using a bound object frame compare the properties under the data tab for the object on the new table to the object on the original table.

I've already compared the properties and can't find anything. There has to be a filter in place some place to stop it from working is my only guess. What I can't figure out is why it works on every other form I create.

it's the original inventory database that came with 2003

Ok you say you added a field to the products table. What was the datatype of that field and assuming it was an OLE object what were the properties?

Table - Product

added new field - photo - type OLE Object

In tabel view - Create object
From file
dock.bmp
link
The hit ok

When I Click on cell - the dock.bmp appears

------------------

form

from the field list I drag the photo field to my form -

however when i do it's empty - when i click on it it say that it's not linked to an object.

The form is based on the Products table. I can create a new form using this table and it works.

Thank you so much

Try using create new instead of create from file

I tried it - I received a blank box just like before. What's odd is that I can create a new form and it works. I can't find where the difference is that's causing the problem.

The form says the form is based on the properties table. When I show the field list my photo field is there where it is suposed to be.

I can go to the table and click on the photo cell and my pic shows up just like it's suposed to do.

As I said before I can create a new form and I can make it work everytime. I have and old data base so I went to it and tried to add photos. Guess what - same problem. I seem to be able to only to make it work when I create new forms.
Thanks for your time - this is really getting to be a hassle

I can't see any settings on the original form that prevents this. It worked fine in the test I ran.

Thank you so much for your help - I found it. For some reason the photo object box was putting a color over the picture. I was looking at the pic properties and saw a color number - I removed it and the picture appeared. This has been driving me nuts for two days. Once again - thank for trying to help me.

Try setting the locked property of the control to yes

I tried that - under data -

then when you click it still allows you to click the pic and then lock everything

i don't understand because on click has nothing in it - when the on click hasn't been enabled you should be able to select the object - correct?

Object frames operate differently, try setting enabled to No/False
